About Dav
World War Won

In amongst the juvenile satire and silly humor you will find many educational and inspiring features of this web site. This page describes tips for using My site that we feel might be helpful.

Tip 1: Print out "Dav’s Books" Sections to Share with Class

All of Dav’s books have their own web page. These pages contain information on the creation, development, and inspirations for each book. Also included are "Fun Facts" and quotes from Dav Pilkey.

The next time you plan to share one of Dav’s books with your class, simply find that book's web page and print it out. Bring the printed page to your classroom and share the "inside scoop" with your students!

Tip 2: Have Dav Pilkey as your "Author of the Month"

Many educators have brought books to life by studying a new author each month. They do extensive research and collect all the information they can about a certain author, then share that stuff with their students throughout the month.

You can look far and wide, but you’ll never find any better info on Dav Pilkey than what you see in this web site. So surf around and print out anything you think your students might find interesting. You can even enlarge printed items on a photocopier and produce really cool bulletin board material. Your students can color many of the images themselves to give your display a personalized, home-made feel!

Tip 3: Create a Pilkey.Com or allcaptainunderpants.tripod.com Treasure Hunt!

Surf this site to come up with obscure questions, then create a fun quiz. Just don’t call it a quiz... call it a treasure hunt!

If the kids in your class all have access to computers, distribute the "Treasure Hunt" and tell your students that the answers to all your questions can be found somewhere in Dav’s Web Site. The student with the most correct answers to your questions by the end of the week wins a prize!

Tip 4: Teach Kids to Draw Cartoons

Use Dav's web pages to help kids learn how to draw cartoons step by step. Children can easily complete the drawings and will build confidence in their abilities!

Tip 5: Have Fun with Dav's Coloring Sheets and Connect the Dots

Dav provides fun coloring sheets and connect the dots that feature his one of a kind characters. Try creating a coloring contest and have the kids decide the winners.

Tip 6: Inspire Kids by Sharing Dav's Personal Story

Dav shares his inspiring personal story on-line using a fun cartoon format. Dav overcame learning disabilities and hyperactivity to become a successful author/illustrator. The motivating moral of his story is that anyone can be a success.
